What to Expect After Your Session

How will I feel in the 24 to 48 hours after a treatment?
It is completely normal to experience mild changes in your body over the 1 to 2 days following an osteopathic session. As restricted tissues, joints, and pathways begin to move in new ways, your body goes through a recalibration process.

What you might experience includes:
Mild Soreness or Stiffness: Similar to the feeling after an unaccustomed workout or deep massage, peaking around 24 hours post-treatment.

Fatigue or Drowsiness: As your nervous system shifts into a relaxed state, your body uses extra energy to process structural changes.

Increased Thirst: Improved circulation and lymphatic drainage can naturally make you feel thirsty.

Tip: Staying well-hydrated, engaging in light movement (like gentle walking), and avoiding heavy lifting or intense workouts for 24 hours will help your body integrate the treatment.

When should I contact Stephanie or reach out to the clinic?
While mild, dull soreness that fades after 48 to 72 hours is normal, you should reach out if:

Symptoms Worsen or Persist: Pain that gets progressively worse or remains sharp and unmanageable beyond 3 days.

New Neurological Symptoms: You experience unexpected numbness, tingling, or weakness in your arms or legs.

General Concerns: If you are unsure whether what you're feeling is a normal reaction, Stephanie is always available to answer questions and ensure you feel supported.

Appointments & Treatments

What does an initial assessment look like?
An initial assessment is approximately 40 minutes long. During this session, we will:
  1. Review Health History: Go over your health background and current concerns together, giving both you and the practitioner time to ask questions.
  2. General Assessment & Initial Treatment: Evaluate how your body moves and loads weight, followed by an initial treatment to see how your tissues respond.
  3. Personalized Plan: Discuss a tailored treatment strategy moving forward.

How long is a treatment session?
At The Osteo Shift, we treat the individual rather than treating to a clock.

Treatment duration depends on factors such as whether your condition is acute or chronic, your age, and your overall health history. While standard follow-up sessions typically run between 20 and 30 minutes, appointments may be slightly shorter or longer based on what your body needs that day.
